Sara Smith, President
I’m excited for another year on the PTA board! I have lived in Howard County since I was a small child. I went to Oakland Mills High School, and then Towson University to earn a degree in Early Childhood Education. I taught Pre-K and Kindergarten at Running Brook Elementary School for 9 years before deciding to take leave to stay home with my children. My husband Douglas and I have three girls, Pearl 10, Hazel 8, and Dottie 5. They all attend BBES this year! In my spare time I enjoy puzzles, reading, music, and walking.
Jen Macomber, Vice President
Hi everyone! My name is Jen Macomber and I will be serving as the PTA Vice President for the 2023-2024 school year. This year will be my 11th (and final!) year at BBES. My husband and I have a 5th grader at BBES, a 7th grader at PVMS, and a 10th grader at HHS. I have spent a lot of time volunteering at BBES with Beaver Cart, Coffee Cart, planning events, working on the yearbook, and helping out in my kids’ classrooms. I am also a Cub Scout leader for my younger two boys. My background is in education, as a 1st grade teacher and a reading intervention teacher in AA and PG counties, and a substitute teacher in this county. I like to read, to spend time outdoors, and to travel to new places with my family. I look forward to working with everyone this upcoming school year!
