9\/10 PTA Meeting Minutes:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Introductions<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. Treasurer Report<\/u> Copies of report distributed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      -Last year\u2019s income: $10,805.11<\/p>\n

      -Last year\u2019s expenses: $10,468.61<\/p>\n

      -Account balances: Checking: $14,869.46\u00a0 Savings: $6,001.38<\/p>\n

      -We must pay PTA dues by Nov. 1<\/p>\n

      -In the process of setting up the PTA website to pay dues vial PayPal.<\/p>\n

      -Setting up Square to take credit card payments when needed.<\/p>\n

      -Processed 35 new memberships.<\/p>\n

      1. Events Since Last Month<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        -Kindergarten Orientation\/Open Houses \u2013 PTA booth<\/p>\n

        -Welcome Back Teacher Breakfast<\/p>\n

        -Back-to-School Picnic \u2013 at least 336 people attended<\/p>\n

        1. Administration Updates<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          -Mrs. Inskeep introduced Ms. Mapson, our new Leadership Intern<\/p>\n

          -Back to School Nights coming up 9\/18 for primary, 9\/19 for secondary.\u00a0 Esol presentations both nights and GT presentation on 9\/19<\/p>\n

          -School board protected Title 1 schools, so we were able to keep Math and Reading Support teachers at least 4 days\/wk.\u00a0 We\u2019ve had increases in staffing and have fully staffed Math and Reading Intervention Teams<\/p>\n

          -MAP testing is starting the week of September 23 for First Grade and will continue until the end of October for First through Fifth Grades.<\/p>\n

          -K does KRA assessments to group students for instruction<\/p>\n

           <\/p>\n

          1. Events in September<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            -Back to School Nights \u2013 PTA booth<\/p>\n

            -Orioles game on 9\/22:\u00a0 250 free tix to give away with 50 of those for staff.\u00a0 Not accepting forms anymore.<\/p>\n

            -Spirit Night at Rita\u2019s 9\/24<\/p>\n

             <\/p>\n

            1. Events in October<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              –Fun Run<\/u>\u2014Biggest PTA fundraiser.\u00a0 Will need MANY volunteers, and a Sign-up Genius will be circulated.\u00a0 There will be Pep Rallies on 9\/27 to get kids excited.\u00a0 Jeremiah volunteered to MC.\u00a0 Donations will be taken online and at school via cash and check.\u00a0 There will be teacher incentives and class-level prizes.<\/p>\n

               <\/p>\n

              –Trunk or Treat<\/u>\u2014Possible dates are Thursday Oct. 24 after a school event like Math Night or Saturday, Oct. 26.\u00a0 PTA is proposing that we move the event to the weekend.\u00a0 The pros and cons are listed on the meeting agenda.\u00a0 One question was how to keep the larger community out if the event was held on the weekend, and a suggestion was made that we could provide tickets to the event at school for our BBES students\/families.\u00a0 After a vote, the Saturday date was chosen.<\/p>\n

               <\/p>\n

              1. Activities<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                –Membership<\/u>\u2014$10 fee for 1 person; $15 for 2 family members.\u00a0 Make checks out to BBES PTA.<\/p>\n

                 <\/p>\n

                –Volunteer Opportunities<\/u>\u2014Kelly Rende has volunteered to send out regular emails with volunteer needs.\u00a0 Mrs. Innskeep to let staff know that they can contact us with volunteer needs, too.<\/p>\n

                 <\/p>\n

                –Staff Appreciation<\/u>\u20141st<\/sup> coffee cart will be in October.\u00a0 Will have this one Wednesday\/month and will need donations.<\/p>\n

                 <\/p>\n

                –After-school activities<\/u>\u2014KidzArt starts 9\/24; SciKidz will be Thursdays starting 10\/17; Chess Club-We are looking to do chess again, but will need parent volunteers.\u00a0 Possibly a session between Thanksgiving and Winter Break.\u00a0 Other inexpensive activities suggested were board games & Legos.<\/p>\n

                 <\/p>\n

                –Beaver Cart<\/u>\u2014Will start first week in October.\u00a0 1st<\/sup> \u2013 5th<\/sup> grade in mornings and K on Monday afternoons.\u00a0 Will need 3-4 parents per grade.\u00a0 Take donations, but would like to have more of 1 thing to prevent issues with students wanting what others got.<\/p>\n

                 <\/p>\n

                –Diversity and Inclusion<\/u>\u2014Shany Seawright asked that Culture Fest be in the Spring<\/p>\n

                 <\/p>\n

                –Watch D.O.G.S.<\/u>\u2014Program for fathers and father figures to get involved and come to school for a day.\u00a0 Joe Smaw is running, but is moving on after this year.\u00a0 Jeremiah expressed interest in taking over.\u00a0 Welcome event will be held on October 17 and volunteers are needed (particularly moms).<\/p>\n

                 <\/p>\n

                –Fundraising<\/u>\u2014See agenda for complete list.<\/p>\n

                –Spirit Wear order forms going out.\u00a0 Can return paper form or order online.<\/p>\n

                –Lavonda Hollar runs Box Tops.\u00a0 They are moving to a system where you scan receipts instead of cutting out and returning box tops.\u00a0 We can\u2019t do class incentives because you can\u2019t view grade on the new system.<\/p>\n

                –Link your Amazon Smile and grocery store accounts to BBES<\/p>\n

                –We are looking into coupon books again.<\/p>\n

                –Silent\/Online Auction\u2014We are planning to do this again but would love volunteers to collect donations.<\/p>\n

                1. PTACHC<\/u>\u2014Kari Hall is our rep and attended last meeting.\u00a0 The Superintendent discussed the county\u2019s vaping\/Juuling policy and anti-bullying campaign.\u00a0 There was also a discussion of strict school security.\u00a0 The goal is tougher school entry, and there will be no tolerance for threats; police will be sent out.\u00a0 PTACHC discusses set topics and then has open presentations and agenda can be found online.\u00a0 There was some discussion of next week\u2019s County Council meeting that would discuss a broad resolution around housing\/education\/development for county.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
